In my quest to bring the horror, I also want to make sure that you guys are actively participating in the genre by purchasing movies and blu ray releases to help the continuation of the genre. After all, if you aren’t purchasing anything, the companies will eventually stop making the products. This is why many companies shut down like say, Cannon. Halloween 4 Blu Ray $19.99 – The Return of Michael Meyers is finally on blu ray and it looks amazing. The sequel to the original has more of a surreal gothic feel to it, and it is ramped up with gore and violence. This is a far cry from the second and third films in the series, and I for one am excited to see it released now.



They Live (Collector’s Edition) Blu Ray $19.99 – Roddy Piper breaks down the door of the science fiction world with this John Carpenter classic in which aliens are taking over. Paired with ammo and a pair of trusty glasses, he makes sure he’s kicking ass and chewing bubble gum.



The Cabin In the Woods Blu Ray $33.99 – This is the epitome of original horror movies in these modern times. More people were bugging me about this one than any other film in the last few years. I have yet to review it, but it’s on the old “to do list”. If you get your copy reserved now, you save a little coinage. Get it, and find out why this might be the best horror movie of the year.



Grimm: Season One Blu Ray $32.99 – I’m not a big fan of the show, but it is selling like hot cakes. This show takes the Grimm Fairy Tales and blows them out of the water with sinister twists and turns. I do recall liking a story arc involving a wolf…but I’ll leave it at that.



The Walking Dead: The Complete Second Season Blu Ray $48.99 – It took me a while to finally like this one, but wow, it really picked up in Season 2. The zombie genre is going to have a hard time trying to top this shows stories as it continually punishes the mind with both beautiful imagery and sickening gore.

This one has fine points of articulation, full mask, and a knife that’s ready to strike fear in anyone that doesn’t escape his killing path. This is not your average figure, and it shows in the details once you get it in your grubby hands.



Chucky 14” Doll $149 Buy It Here – This ultra realistic doll has been made for posing just about anywhere and he is dressed in his good guy clothing. Add a knife and this one is still capturing the nightmares that Child’s Play originally sent when you first saw it. The points of articulation are quite nice, the joints in the arms, shoulders and hips means that this is the ultimate poseable doll to scare the children on Halloween or to sit and watch you type in the darkness.



Jason Voorhees Limited Edition 1 of 400 Crystal Lake Terror Collectible $699 Buy It Here – If you have serious money to spend, this is your ticket to something unique. Only 400 of these were made and most have sold out wherever they have been displayed at. You can still get a couple that amazon is selling, but they won’t last too long. This features Jason in all his glory fully casted in sculpture on a pile of death with machete in hand. This statue is insanely articulate and will rival any other collectible you might have in your home right now.



Freddy Krueger 18” Talking Action Figure $149 Buy It Here – Last, but certainly not least, this action figure of Freddy Krueger is the perfect combination of collectible and fully functioning evil villain. The articulation of Freddy’s face, hands, glove, and attire are fully rendered like the movies, and you’ll be delighted with the voice work as well. Combine this with the other 18” figures above and you have yourself a crew of evil that will reign over all your collection.

Nude Nuns with Big Guns Review

If you have been following my website for some time, you know that I love exploitation cinema, and of course the genre of Nunsploitation. When the two meet it is a marvelous thing, and when the modern era of movies seem to appoint themselves to making another film with the premise of revenge, nudity, and more, I’m in. That’s why I had to jump at the chance to see the film Nude Nuns with Big Guns. Now, before I move forward, I must say that this film is not for everyone. There is a lot of nudity, a lot of violence, and several, well, rape scenes for lack of a better turn. If you’re offended by the nunsploitation genre, this one is going to really make you mad as they do a lot of piss you off.

The film is about a nun that is abused and beat up by priests that are working in the drug trade. When she is nearly killed in a trade, she is placed in the hands of a brothel and is pimped out and drugged. Take the ideas that you usually get with these types of movies, and put in a “nun” and you have the premise and beginning quite easily met. When she escapes, with the help of one of her captor’s helpers, she begins a rampage of killing all the members of the Catholic Church that did her wrong. But she doesn’t just do that, she makes sure to have a little lesbian sex with another nun that she’s sweet on.

She takes her mission from God seriously, and we get to see several stages of throw down with some sick weapons. Anyone that is involved with the biker gang that the church is trading with, and priests all get it. There isn’t much more to t his film than blasting bullets, nude scenes, and references to the Lord. It’s really a twisted romp through the world of revenge cinema with the guise of nuns and boy are they hot. If you’re into this genre, this is going to be met with open arms, otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend watching this film. The film is really harsh, features a lot of sick and twisted moments, and is right up the alley of horror fans that already like the genre. This is a perfect companion to any type of grindhouse film fest you’re throwing. I loved Nude Nuns with Big Guns, even though it wasn’t the right choice for a “date’ night at all.

Marshmallow Ghosts - Corpse Reviver no.2 Review

On a recent chilly October night, after putting my reviews on hold for too long, I decided to give ‘The Marshmallow Ghosts - Corpse Reviver No.2’ a shot.

Now, granted, I had never listened to them before, nor did I know anything about them. Which makes this all the more genuine of a review in my opinion.

Side “A” is a CD of the eerie and mellow music that I personally enjoyed while cruising the city streets of LA late at night. I am personally fond of “The Hearse Song” - which reminds me of singing the childhood rhyme for “the worms crawl in . . . “

Side “B” is a full-length music video collection of the songs found on side “A”. This starts out with a young girl taken for a tour in a hearse around the seemingly small town and is told ghost stories by the driver. Each story at the end pans into one of the dark and beautifully done music videos.

I was not too fond of the dialogue with the driver and the young girl. The girl was very bland and almost not even noticeable at times. The driver, although I did enjoy his voice in the mic, bumbling around and his somewhat unprepared mannerisms in the hearse did not seem to fit in with the premise of the video. This may have been what they were going for when they made the video, but I did not care for that part.

The videos were amazing and well done. Very dark and nostalgic in the shooting style you see, you will be brought back to another time. There are a few that are comparable to being in an art gallery with animated paintings. The styles vary from early 1970’s horror style all the way back to an art nouveau and Victorian style. Some of which even creeped me out a little bit. The pig man and the girl in the coffin, for example, gave me a genuine case of the willies.

I can definitely say that while The Marshmallow Ghosts may not be on a constant rotation in my mp3 player, they will for certain be a go to when I am hosting my Halloween party or throwing back a bottle of Merlot and searching my darker artsy side.

I have to admit, out of all the screeners I've received, I'm going to have to agree with Dollface's review here. The music and visuals found on this cd/dvd combo are incredible. Some of the finer musical tones I've heard in a while, and one of the more ambient and dark musical numbers that I've listened to.

Killer View AKA Snuffed Review

I was fortunate enough to be sent a copy of this film, and upon first glance I wasn't sure what to expect. I was floored with the opening sequence, as it took you into the horror of what a snuff film might look like. The grainy footage and sexual act in the opening really punches the viewer in the mouth, and what would you expect? The film is called Snuffed.

This independent film follows an investigation of a serial killer. The film is almost documentary style with film grain footage and voice overs pushing the story, creating an interesting tapestry. From the opening scenes through the rest of the film, we get this sort of pov interview style of a serial killer.

Aesthetics are key here, you get a very in depth interview and interesting narrative with jarring visuals and sickening points, you'll swear your watching a real life serial killer, making this film quite unique. The scary thing about this movie is the low budget visuals mixed with interviews, pushing the limits of your imagination. It's really a triumph in many ways, moving forward with real horror. I'd say Snuffed is the most unique independent horror film I've ever seen.

This film is not easy to watch for some, but for those that can stomach the voyeur style presented here, your in for a unique and horrific ride. I liked it a lot, it seemed real, too real for comfort.

Berdella Review

I've seen a lot of films based on serial killers, but none of them seem to be quite good, and the majority of them hit below the radar. Most recently, I was contacted to see if I'd be interested in reviewing a film about serial killer Bob Berdella. At first glance this film is quite creepy, and upon reading more about Berdella and the murders that he's attached to, the intrigue rises and the true horror begins.

Much like the "Gacy" biopic, this film starts mildly enough with the main character and his daily life. He's got some friends, he is a somewhat ordinary fellow with a cool mustache.

The film has a "straight to dvd" feel, but the editing and the music, alongside with heart beats and sounds make this film above average in the same regard. The creep factor rises even more when the camera angles shift towards how mild mannered Berdella seems and how easily he slays his victims.

The gore levels are treated quite well, and this one is no shocker, as the film takes an unflinching road in showcasing the violence, and no, it's NOT torture porn. I hate that title. Berdella is creepy as hell, and genuinely scary in this film. You'd almost think that he's a super villain from an 80's slasher instead of an average guy with a deadly secret.

The film carries through quite well and is watchable above many other serial killer biopics. The treatment of the subject is never hokey nor glorified to an odd extent. It is scripted and acted quite well, and is creepy throughout the scenes of drug use, torture and much more.



IS Berdella a Scary Film?: Yes.

Much like the GACY film, this one is a sick and twist ride. The worst and most scary point of the film is not so much the gore and violence that is involved with the character. It's not that he's a predator in mild mannered clothing, but rather that he blended in so well in real life! Yep, this is based on true events, and even the wikipedia page has some information on the real life killer.

The most scary thing about biopics like this is that society today has these guys lurking around. I'm not scared too often, but the thought of a mild mannered guy in a community, is not only plausible, it has happened time and time again through history. I would suspect that within my lifetime, there will be another creepy serial killer and my kids will most likely have to watch a documentary or biopic about a serial killer.

This independent film has a way of getting under your skin, much like harsher movies in the horror genre do. Berdella lacks the technical prowess and money that mainstream horror does, but boy does this thing pack a punch in what it does. You have to enjoy that aspect.

The Final Review

I saw a lot promotion for this film before it came out, but I never got around to actually watching it, until now. The Final couldn't be released several years back, and it is really a product of something that can only happen now. Why is that? Simply put, this film would have been banned for being too gruesome in the light of a little American incident called Columbine. That's right, as soon as I mention that, you'll understand why this film is a harsh one in light of what happened in Colorado.

The movie has a very basic and simple plot, but it moves along quickly and gets to the action, albeit somewhat boring at times. The movie is about several teenagers that are picked on and are plotting some sort of revenge on the “cool” kids of their school. The movie showcases some of the points where the kids are being mean to the rejects, and the movie progresses to a complete revenge plot and near exploitation cinema style execution.

The highlight of this film for me, is that the cameras and cinematography is a little better than most films. This film looks and feels like a real theatrical release, even though it screams of straight to dvd. The acting is horrendous, and is saved only by the brutality of the torture sequences. At one point I saw glimpses of Surviving the Game, but it wasn't meant to be.

There's not a whole lot more to say about this film, as it really breaks down in the third half and eventually spins out of control into obvious and stupid realms. It is not a great film, and I'm not going to recommend it. It's barely even scary, but hey, it looked polished, which is a lot better than 90% of the made for dvd releases that I have to endure.

Introducing Ekimmu The Dead Lust

Earlier in the week I received an email from the director of this new film, "Ekimmu The Dead Lust" and I promised I'd say a little something. This movie looks intriguing to me, and I like how it's coming together. I didn't have a review in the chamber because I had an interview with Walmart this morning and felt like crap after I realized that 4 years of college, a degree, an a lifetime of debt has garnered me an interview with Walmart!

I hate my life.

I didn't get the job either.

Oh right, this movie looks cool, here's the Synopsis from the official Ekimmu The Dead Lust site, followed by the trailers to this cool indie-horror flick:

he unassuming rural town of Briar Creek seems to be keeping a nasty secret...

On a cross country trip home a young couple make a late night stop in this little town,
only to stumble across a mysterious girl lying along the dark roadside,

When the two girls find that they are somehow psychically connected strange things begin to happen.

Bronson Review

Out of left field came this rad movie called Bronson. Bronson is a movie about a convicted killer, and partially biographical, and it is badass!

Bronson goes through the motions of mixing what seems to be a live performance piece with scenes from the mans life. You see a one man stage show, in which our main character spews out rhetoric, stories and details about his life, in a very interesting manner. The actor playing this role is amazing, garnering a lot of attention with simple words and actions. I liked it.

The movie is near exploitation at times, with the graphic gore, violence, and cursing. The real life prisoner was made famous by the English Media for being the craziest, most brutal prisoner ever. In this film he goes to great lengths to prove it. He has a lot of bare knuckle fights where he just goes nuts.

Visually, this film is quite good overall. It features some beautiful lighting at times, and some very interesting shots that seem just too artsy for the content of this film. At times there are sections that reminded me of an Argento arthouse horror film, and at other times it seemed like drama was the name of the game here.

I really loved this film, and putting it into words is somewhat difficult. It’s a tour-de-force of brutality and justice. It just visually and sonically appeals to me. It’s not necessarily a scary film, but it’s so graphic that it’s like watching an old style exploitation film, mixed with the fights of “Fight Club”.

Bronson’s main character is a real life person. I learned that he wrote a very unique fitness manual. It’s a book for those that want to lose weight, pack on lean muscle, and don’t have a lot of room. It’s made for a single man, in a small room, and it’s quite good from what I’ve seen. Check that out in conjunction with this film, and you’ll realize it’s a rather interesting topic. The book is titled: "Solitary Fitness" and it is very interesting to say the least.
